THE WATERMAN TRAIL TO TWIN PEAKS SADDLE

The Trail
Begin hiking on the P.C.T. and quickly you will come upon a sign for the Waterman Trail. Turn right and follow this route for the next 5 miles till you reach the trail junction for Twin Peaks Saddle.

Initially the trail will zig-zag up the spine of the mountain for 600 feet. From this point, the trail will remain mostly level through the lovely forest and Boulder- stacked ridges till you get near the signed junction for Twin Peaks Saddle.

Along the way you will have great views of the north face of Twin Peaks and the upper reaches of Devils Canyon to your right. Once you have reached the trail junction, you can either call it a day and retrace your steps back to the car or you can descend 400 feet to Twin Peaks Saddle and lunch or camp (if you're backpacking) amongst the towering Cedars alongside the singing stream.

Views to the east encompass wild and remote Bear Canyon, as well as Mount Baldy. Enjoy your time in the heart of the San Gabriel Wilderness and return the way you came back to the Three Points parking area.

Cool Fact:  The bright red Snow Plant is actually a fungus and grows only out of piles of decomposing pine needles.
