From HWY 395 in Big Pine, South of Bishop:
Turn west onto Crocker St. and head up into the mountains for 11 miles to the turn-off, on your right, for the backpackers parking lot.
Day-hikers can proceed a half-mile to the roadend and park at the gated trailhead next to the creek..
